NYNAME announces winners of its advertising contest

Winners of the New York Newspapers Advertising and Marketing Executive’s annual advertising competition were honored during an awards banquet at the Ninth Annual Sales & Marketing Joint Conference held in Saratoga Springs on Monday, June 13, 2016.
Entries in the contest consisted of advertising published or produced during the 2015 calendar year in thirteen categories among three circulation groups.
This year, contest judges selected first, second, and third place winners from a record total of 155 entries submitted by 18 New York State daily newspapers. The contest was judged by Joe Zokal and members of his team at the News Tribune in La Salle, Illinois.

Registration now open for Annual Sales & Marketing Joint Conference, June 12-14 in Saratoga Springs!
Registration is now open for the Ninth Annual Sales & Marketing Joint Conference of NYSCMA, Inc. and NYNAME!
Set for June 12-14 at the Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs, the 2016 conference also marks the 100th anniversary of NYSCMA, Inc.’s first conference!
The 2016 conference’s theme of “Black and White & Read All Over” is a nod to the old newspaper punchline which also acknowledges that now, more than ever, the news is consumed by readers across numerous platforms, wherever they may be.
As always, the conference agenda features a long list of informative speakers and valuable breakout sessions hand-picked for the Circulation Manangers, Advertising Managers, and Ad Sales Reps of New York State's daily newspapers.
Joint speakers and topics scheduled include the annual Host Paper Panel featuring executives from The Gazette in Schenectady, the N.Y.S. Legislative Update with NYNPA President Diane Kennedy, Leveraging Local Assets with Ross Levi of Empire State Development, and The Continuing Evolution of Media with NAA President David Chavern.
In addition to joint sessions, the agenda also features breakout sessions tailored specifically to the needs and interests of Circulation Managers, Advertising Managers, and Ad Sales Reps.
Circulation breakouts planned include a RouteSmart Presentation, the Alliance for Audited Media Update, 10 Rules for Retaining Customers with Tony Casale of American Opinion Research, and Circulation Roundtables on Audit Verification, New Revenue Streams, and Digital Growth Opportunities.
Ad Managers breakouts currently scheduled include Monetizing Google Grants with Amie Stein of Local Media Association, Hosting Events for Additional Revenue (a roundtable discussion led by the Times Union, Albany), Hiring/Onboarding New Sales Reps (a roundtable hosted by The Citizen, Auburn), and the ever-popular Innovative Ideas Discussion.
Meanwhile, Ad Sales Reps breakouts include Developing a Competitive Multi-Media Advantage with Kelly Wirges of ProMax Training, Advanced Social Media Bootcamp with Amie Stein of LMA, Time is the Currency of Achievement with Kelly Wirges of ProMax, and the Tips from the Trenches Discussion.
Once again, NYNAME and NYSCMA, Inc. are offering registration to their memberships at the severely discounted rate of $175 for the first attendee and $125 for additional attendees from that group. Day rates are also available for those interested in only attending part of the conference.
Please note that the deadline to take advantage of each group's registration special and to make hotel reservations is Friday, May 6th.

2016 Advertising Contest
The New York Newspapers Advertising & Marketing Executives (NYNAME) are now accepting entries for its 2016 advertising competition.
Open to members of NYNAME and NYNPA, the annual contest recognizes newspapers and their advertising staff for their hard work and talents in newspaper advertising.
As always, the contest is free to enter. The deadline to submit entries is Friday, February 26 at 5:00 p.m.
Some categories were held over from previous contests, including Newspaper Self-Promotion, Specialty Supplement, Innovative Ad Project, and two online categories, while several outdated categories were retired to make room for the new additions.
Also new for 2016, each newspaper will be permitted to submit up to three entries in the Innovative Ad Project category in order for NYNAME to collect more great ideas for its annual Innovative Ideas Book, which is distributed to attendees of the 2016 conference. Only one entry per category, per newspaper is allowed in all other categories of the competition.
In an effort to create a better balance among members competing in the contest, NYNAME has adjusted its circulation groups as follows:

NYNAME can trace its roots back to 1922 when the Advertising Managers Bureau of the New York State Dailies was formed. This was one year after the founding of the New York State Publishers Association. For sixty-three years, the New York State Dailies Advertising Managers Bureau as it was known, held yearly meetings, training sessions, and an annual conference. Like all organizations that evolve and grow, so too did the Advertising Managers Bureau.On June 6, 1985, at the annual Spring Conference, the membership voted to change the name to the New York Newspaper Advertising and Marketing Executives Association. On October 8, 1985, NYNAME became an official incorporated not for profit in the state of New York.
The mission of NYNAME encompasses all aspects of newspaper advertising including the training and professional development of newspaper advertising personnel, and to advance newspaper advertising to business community.
