Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills along with the leadership needed to guide a staff through these challenging times. The Advertising Director leads a staff of 11 and is responsible for generating all advertising revenue, including for our weekly publication The Cooperstown Crier and TMC, The Weekly Star, retail and classified sales along with a quarterly magazine, special sections and Internet sales. This person will work to meet the monthly department goals by developing the staff through training and direction in addition to creatively producing products and advertising opportunities that will serve the advertising community and boost revenue. This creativity would include a multi-platform approach using existing and new products with print and online offerings. This person will need to be a proven leader with a track record of meeting revenue targets along with effective expense management. Budgeting skills along with strategic development and implementation are necessary. The Daily Star annually is a New York state award-winning publication based in Oneonta.
